Persons do not need a study permit to pursue a study program for six months or less than that. Courses may include any subject and may be part- time or full- time.

If you want to be regarded spare from the study permit requirements, you should complete the course of study within six months. An extension of the visa is not granted for the sole purpose of a short- term programme.

Foreign nationals in Canada who wish to enroll in an educational program without a study permit must apply for a study permit from outside Canada. An exception may be made if the course is of short duration and can be completed within the original stay period specified upon entry into Canada.
