Cyprus consists of a total of 18 universities that are private, national, and state universities. These universities provide top-notch education and research facilities with sufficient knowledge. Cypriot universities also offer a double degree program through which students can get a degree recognized in any of the following countries Cyprus, the United States of America, and Israel. Cyprus West University

Cyprus West University is a private university, situated in Famagusta, Northern Cyprus. This university was established in 2015 and is a higher education institute. The university offers 8 programs and consists of 4 faculties and 1 school. The basic rules and instructions are available in Turkish and English languages. School also provides English preparatory classes to students who want to improve their English. UCLan Cyprus

UCLan Cyprus is a private university. It is situated in Larnaka, Cyprus, and was established in 2012. It has the motto of “The British University of Cyprus” as it is the only British university throughout Cyprus. UCLan Cyprus is built on the strong academic foundations and principles of the UCLan UK. Therefore, after the completion of studies at UCLan Cyprus will automatically result in a double degree from the two universities and will also be recognized in both countries.

University of Cyprus

The University of Cyprus is a national university, situated in Nicosia, Cyprus. This university was established in 1989 but the first students were admitted in 1992 and right now more than 7000 students are studying here with about 811 administrative staff in it. The majority of the students are admitted based on an entrance examination that is organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus. There are approximately 21 different departments.

Eastern Mediterranean University

Eastern Mediterranean University is a state university, situated in Famagusta, North Cyprus. This university was established in 1979 as a higher education institute of technology. The university consists of 11 faculties, 5 schools, and 141 study programs.

Cyprus University of Technology

The Cyprus University of Technology is situated in Limassol, Cyprus, and is a national university. The CUT was established in 2004 but the first students were enrolled in 2007-2008. This university was founded to offer degrees in undergraduates, graduates, and postgraduates levels that were not offered by the other universities of Cyprus.

Open University of Cyprus

The Open University of Cyprus is a national university, established in 2002. This university is situated in Nicosia, Cyprus, and is one of the best distance learning universities in Cyprus. The main purpose of the Open University of Cyprus was to fill the gap for distance education and open education in the higher education system of Cyprus. Because of the growing demand for the continuation of education and lifelong learning until graduate and postgraduate levels.

European University Cyprus

European University Cyprus is a private university situated in Engomi, Nicosia, Cyprus. The university was established in 1961 as a Cyprus College which is the oldest educational institute of higher education in Cyprus. Currently, more than 6500 national and international students are studying at undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate degree levels. This university is also a partner of Microsoft.

Frederick University

Frederick University is a private university located in Nicosia, Limassol, and Larnaca, Cyprus. The university came into existence in 1965. The main degree programs of Frederick University are Science, Technology, Letters, and Arts.

University of Nicosia

The University of Nicosia with a motto of “Think Big” came into existence in 1980. The university is a private institute and is located in Nicosia, Cyprus. Currently, more than 12,000 national and international students are studying at the University of Nicosia. The university is the biggest in Cyprus with approximately 6 schools and more than 100 learning programs. The University of Nicosia has a partnership with the St. George University of London.

European University of Lefke

The European University of Lefke is a state university and was established in 1990. The university is situated in Lefke, North Cyprus. The EUL offers more than 77 undergraduate and 38 postgraduate and doctoral degree programs.

Neapolis University Paphos

It is a private university and is located in Paphos, Cyprus. The Neapolis University Paphos was established in 2007 and it offers undergraduate and graduates degree programs in Economics and Business Studies, Law, Health Sciences, Architecture & Land and Environmental Sciences, Theology, and Greek Civilization.

American University of Cyprus

The American University of Cyprus is a private university with a motto of “Knowledge is Power”. This university is located in Nicosia, Cyprus. The main language of instructions is English. The American University of Cyprus consists of 4 faculties with more than 6 departments.

Cyprus International University

Cyprus International University was established in 1997 and is a private university. This university is located in North Nicosia, Northern Cyprus. It started with only 81 students and 45 teaching and non-teaching staff. Cyprus International University has shown exceptional growth as its strength has increased reaching over 19,000 students and more than 1000 staff members in only 22 years. The university campus is over a million square meters, it focuses on research, social responsibilities, environment and culture, and the growing number of graduates from more than 160 countries of different civilizations and cultures. The Cyprus International University consists of 14 faculties with more than 44 departments. It even offers students double degree programs.

Near East University

Near East University is a private university and is located in North Nicosia, Northern Cyprus. The university was established in 1988 and currently, there is more than 2250 academic and administrative staff at the university. Recently, more than 25,000 national and international students are enrolled in the university. Near East University consists of 16 faculties with about 98 departments and 8 schools

Girne American University

Girne American University is a private university with the motto of “We Live Through Learning”. GAU is located in Kyrenia, North Cyprus, and was established in 1985. Currently, more than 18,000 national and international students are enrolled in this university. The university consists of 8 faculties 7 schools including a nursing school.

University of Kyrenia

The University of Kyrenia is a private university and it was established in 2013. This university is located in Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus. It is the first Northern University which is based on maritime studies. Currently, there are 12 faculties with a total of 58-degree programs, 3 vocational schools, and 3 graduate schools.

Cyprus Science University

The university was established in 2013 and is located in Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus, and is a private university. The university consists of 5 faculties and more than 11-degree programs.

University of Mediterranean Karpasia

The University of Mediterranean Karpasia is a private university and was established in 2012. It is located in Karpasia, North Nicosia, Northern Cyprus. Now the university consists of 4 faculties and 1 school. In most departments, the main language of instructions is English.
